The WCAI Creative Life interview with
Sarah Reynolds

What is paint but powder.
What is a painting but an object on the wall,
an image of
flowers or a fish.
The object of the image is not there,
it is an illusion, it is an abstraction.

If you substitute the pigment with ash from that cremated object, a fish, and render the image with the object itself,
is it then an abstraction or a fish?

And is this fish just an animal swimming in the sea, or is it also food on my table, sustenance, life giving, becoming part of me,
who I am.
Am I part fish?

What is a person but flesh and blood.
Do I also provide sustenance in my shadow,
in the footprint of my time?

What do I give, leave behind, become?
